Grants to help communities host sporting events

Communities throughout British Columbia will once again benefit from Provincial funding made available through the Hosting BC grant program. Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Peter Fassbender, made the announcement today of $145,247 distributed to 20 communities for assistance in hosting 37 different sporting events.

A wide range of sporting events at the local level will benefit from over $175,000 in provincial grants, Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister Peter Fassbender announced today. This round of funding from Hosting BC will be shared by 45 groups in 24 communities throughout the province. Events include the Panorama Coupe NorAm Cup Series – an alpine skiing event in Invermere, the Western National Championships for water polo in Surrey and the Provincial Championships for wheelchair basketball in Kamloops.

SportAbility Coastal Cup brings international power soccer teams to BC

On Saturday, June 8, 2013 SportAbility British Columbia kicked off their first annual Coastal Cup Power Soccer Invitational at the Richmond Olympic Oval. The first of its kind for power soccer in BC, the international competition hosted teams from BC, Quebec and Japan.

Thirty-one countries to compete in Kamloops for international Athletics Championships

Events

This summer, from August 6 - 10, the city of Kamloops will be a hosting 31 countries for the 2014 North America, Central America, and Caribbean (NACAC) U-23 Athletics Championships. The  competition is held every two years in different host countries and will see over 400 athletes from countries such as Anguilla all the way to Trinidad and Tobago in fierce competition for the podium.

viaSport is thrilled to partner with BC Table Tennis Association, Table Tennis Canada and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) to live-stream select components of the 2014 Double Fish ITTF North America Cup and Canada Open Semi-Finals and Finals, an event running this week from June 25 through June 29 at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.
