Grants encourage girls and women to stay active

Girls Only (GO) and Forever Active Bodies (FAB) 55+ are examples of the types of grants, along with Local Sport Program Development (LSPD) funds, that strive to make sport more accessible to people of all abilities.This latest round of funding administered by viaSport, the Provincial Government’s lead agency in the development and promotion of sport and physical activity in the province, is made up of 34 grants that provide more than $60,000 to clubs and programs around the province.

Provincial grants boost sport in B.C.


A wide range of sporting events at the local level will benefit from over $175,000 in provincial grants, Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister Peter Fassbender announced today. This round of funding from Hosting BC will be shared by 45 groups in 24 communities throughout the province. Events include the Panorama Coupe NorAm Cup Series – an alpine skiing event in Invermere, the Western National Championships for water polo in Surrey and the Provincial Championships for wheelchair basketball in Kamloops.
