Partners Council announces BC Aboriginal Provincial Championships & Development Camps

Jul 28, 2015

The Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) is pleased to announce the dates and locations of summer events within the 2015 series of BC Aboriginal Provincial Championships and Athlete Development Camps.

The BC Aboriginal Provincial Championships and Athlete Development Camps are an important component of the Partners Council’s Provincial Strategy for Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity. The events provide a unique opportunity for Aboriginal athletes and coaches from First Nations, Métis Chartered Communities and Friendship Centres throughout the province to gather and participate in events that promote sport excellence while celebrating cultural unity and pride.

The Championships and Camps will eventually serve as the primary events by which athletes and coaches will be identified and/or selected to represent BC at the Toronto 2017 North American Indigenous Games.  Overseen by Provincial Aboriginal Sport Committees, the 2015 events will provide opportunity to better prepare for Team BC qualifying events set to begin in summer of 2016.
