CEO UPDATE AS OF MARCH 31, 2017
After a year of review and testing different business models, talking with stakeholders, as well as tracking changes in the industry, we will be dissolving viaSport Media effective April 1st, 2017. Since media services is not our core business, nor is it a government funded initiative, its operating costs needed to be fully offset through fee for services and sponsorship. After comparing four years of results against objectives, we have decided that a more sustainable business model is to partner with external providers when needed.
Since its official launch in 2013, viaSport Media has covered events and programs in high-definition colour and audio, promoting amateur sport in B.C. to hundreds of thousands of online viewers around the world at Olympic/Paralympic caliber. Media has also been used to foster information and education throughout the sport sector. All of this was possible under the leadership of the viaSport team and key partners such as BC Institute of Technology, CBC, Destination BC, the Richmond Olympic Oval, destination marketing organizations, PSOs and NSFs, and numerous other corporate or community entities across the province. Thank you to everyone who supported this initiative over the past four years.
