Make Ethical Decisions
Make Ethical Decisions (MED) is the most popular multi-sport module in the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Successful completion of the MED online evaluation is necessary for certification in all NCCP pathways.
Taking the Course
Coaches in BC can take the MED module in three ways: In-class, through Online Delivery or through Home Study.
In-class MED modules are hosted by our partner organizations throughout BC. The in-class workshop runs for 3.5 hours and the cost can range from $50-$80, depending on the host organization. In general, we find that the in-class experience is the most effective way to learn. To find an in-class module, please visit our NCCP course calendar.
Online Delivery courses are live, facilitator led, interactive, group-based courses offered using Zoom. They are similar to in-class courses, but are attended virtually, from the comfort of your own computer. Please visit the Online Delivery page for more information.
Home Study is a form of self-directed learning designed for coaches unable to attend an in-class course due to location, work or coaching schedule. The MED module can be completed through Home Study for $70. Please visit the Home Study page for more information.
Online Evaluation
The MED online evaluation is available in the Coaching Association of Canada's (CAC) online database: the Locker. If you have successfully completed the MED course (and it appears on your transcript), you can attempt the evaluation an unlimited number of times, free of charge.
It is also possible to challenge the course and go straight to the evaluation, should you only need the evaluation complete for certified status. This will cost $85 and a coach only has two attempts to pass the evaluation with a score of 75% or higher. If the coach does not pass, they will need to take the MED course to re-gain access to the online evaluation.
