Jim's professional career has spent over 26 years in municipal government with a focus of contributing to a strong community through sport, recreation and culture. As the Divisional Director for Active Living & Culture with the City of Kelowna, the community is Jim's playing field. Through this role he continues to influence community life through the development of initiatives and partnerships that contribute to a healthier community.
Outside of his work life, Jim's passion has been his involvement in the continued development of a sport framework that supports athletes of all levels while building a healthier community. He has been able to influence this as a founding and continued board member of PacificSport Okanagan (1998), board member with the Canadian Sport Centre Pacific (2000-2010) and as the liaison from the PacificSport Regional Network to Canadian Sport Institute Pacific (2011-2013).
Jim has coached athletes at the grass roots and national level and is an active National Coaching Certification Program course facilitator. Also, as a father of 4, his volunteer time generally involves coaching or fundraising for local sport organizations.
