More than 1,300 athletes from 12 provinces to compete at Special Olympics Canada 2014 Summer Games, live-streamed by viaSport

Vancouver, BC – viaSport is thrilled to partner with the Special Olympics Canada 2014 Summer Games Organizing Committee to provide live-streamed event coverage for the 2014 Summer Games, broadcast live from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver from July 8 – 12, 2014.

viaSport Productions will live-stream competition from six different sports including powerlifting, softball, athletics, basketball, soccer and rhythmic gymnastics, bringing the 2014 Games into the homes of families, friends and fans across the province and country.

For the first time in 20 years, the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games are being held back in British Columbia. Expected to be the largest to date held in Canada, the Games will see approximately 2,000 coaches, officials and athletes across 11 sports, managed by more than 1,000 volunteers.

“Having the opportunity to represent your sport and your province at a national level Games  is a life-changing experience,” says Cathy Priestner Allinger, viaSport CEO and Board Chair, Special Olympic Canada 2014 Summer Games. “For the first time in Games history, the event will be live-streamed and available to watch online. viaSport will be providing coverage for a range of events so that those who can’t make it to B.C. will be able to watch their children, family and friends participate in this exciting competition.”
