2021 Call for Nominations to the viaSport Board of Directors

viaSport is currently seeking passionate individuals to serve on their Board of Directors. Candidates will be able to dedicate their time and expertise to help in the development of a thriving, resilient and world-class sport ecosystem that inspires and enables more British Columbians to play and connect through sport.

viaSport British Columbia is a not-for-profit organization created in 2011 as a legacy of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. With the support of the provincial government, viaSport leads the governance, promotion and development of amateur sport in British Columbia to build a stronger, more effective system that brings more families to the field of play, more fans into the stands, more athletes to the podium, and more sporting events to the province.

viaSport has up to four (4) volunteer board positions up for election in July 2021 and is specifically seeking to enhance the diversity of the Board to better represent British Columbians. This includes but is not limited to persons of all sexual orientations and genders, First Nations, Métis and Inuit, Black and racialized persons, and persons with disabilities. We strongly encourage applicants from remote and rural communities and seek representation from across British Columbia.  Directors are nominated for up to three terms with a maximum of three years per term.

In addition to demonstrating a passion for viaSport’s mission to help all British Columbians develop and realize their potential through sport, we ask applicants to identify whether they possess the following priority skill sets and competencies:

  • Financial Acumen - eg CPA
  • Legal
  • Governance [including Indigenous Governance]
  • Government Relations
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion awareness, expertise and/or Lived Experience

If you are looking to be involved in a dynamic and engaged governance board, viaSport would like to hear from you.
