Jun 18, 2015

The countdown is on!  It is only 50 days to go until the start of the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games in Wood Buffalo, Alberta.

The Western Canada Summer Games are held every four years and bring together the four western provinces and three territories for a multi-sport competition taking place over 10 days. The 2015 Games will feature a total of 2300 athletes, coaches, managers, and officials and competition in 18 sports from August 7 to 16.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is the second largest municipality in Canada and includes the urban centre of Fort McMurray and nine rural communities. The 2004 Arctic Winter Games were also hosted in the area. The 2015 Western Canada Summer Games will showcase state-of-the-art sport facilities and first class accommodation and food services for the participants. Community celebrations including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the brand new Shell Place are sure to create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Team BC is led by the BC Games Society in partnership with the Province of BC, Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, SportMedBC, and viaSport. Each organization contributes expertise and resources to ensure that BC athletes have the best training and experiences to lead to optimal performances

Team BC will bring together over 400 athletes, coaches, and managers to compete against the best in the west at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. They will be supported by a dedicated team of volunteer mission staff led by Chef de Mission, Diane St-Denis.
