Coach Developer training
Coach Developer is the umbrella term used to capture the roles in the NCCP that are directly responsible for the development of coaches. These include: Learning Facilitators (LFs), Coach Evaluators (CEs) and Master Coach Developers (MCD); formally called MLF and MCE.
A new policy was developed by the Coaching Association of Canada in February 2014 around the framework of the Coach Developer pathway. All Coach Developers will now follow the pathway below:
viaSport is the provincial/territorial coaching representative for BC and are the only delivery agent of the NCCP Core Training for Coach Developers.

viaSport Coach Developer Grant - Coach Developer Conference 2017
The 2017 Coach Developer Conference is a multi-sport event open to all NCCP Coach Developers and others delivering NCCP content. Join us in beautiful Victoria, BC from October 12 – 15 to further develop yourself professionally in any of the Coach Developer roles. This will be a great opportunity to network and learn from sport leaders representing a variety of sports and from all over Canada.
viaSport is pleased to offer support to our own British Columbia multi-sport Coach Developer team, in hopes to bring our team together at this event and learn from one another.
For more information view the grant guidelines here. Deadline to apply is July 31, 2017, any applications received after this will not be accepted. Notification for final grant approvals will be completed by August 15, 2017.
If there is a lack of available LFs to meet the demand of courses in a particular area of the province, viaSport will put out a call for LF applications on the coaching section of the website (www.viasport.ca/coaching). Subscribe to the viaSport bi-weekly newsletter to learn about these openings as they come up.
NOTE: In the past, LF selection for certain courses was more casual. This was the case with Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) during the initial stages of program implementation and growth. Today the program is quite large, and with an excess of trained LFs currently in BC, we must ensure the same quality control is being applied to FMS, as is done in the other multi-sport contexts.
viaSport is responsible for scheduling and organizing all multi-sport LF trainings in BC. Once selected as a multi-sport LF, one will begin the new Coaching Association of Canada’s Coach Developer Pathway. LFs will engage in Core Training for Learning Facilitators, Content Training specific to the course they will be facilitating, and a co-facilitation of each course they will be facilitating (one, at minimum) before facilitating on his/her own. For details on training, please go to CAC's Learning Facilitator website.
Please direct all questions regarding multi-sport selection, training and management to Kate Kloos at firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOTE: All LFs selected by viaSport are for multi-sport courses. Sport-specific LFs are selected through the Provincial Sport Organization (PSO), please contact your PSO for more information.
